While many of his Boston Bruins teammates will face off against the Leafs tonight in pre-season action at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum, Brian Leetch's focus will be centred on something far more important.

According to a Bruins spokesman, Leetch left Boston's New England-based training camp immediately after practice yesterday and returned to his New York home to be with his pregnant wife. Doctors were scheduled to induce labour today.

Leetch, a former Maple Leaf, signed with the Bruins last month.

RULE-BOOK BLUES

Normally combustible Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn really does believe that the NHL's new rules potentially could make the sport much more entertaining.

But there is one particular edict that he finds ridiculous.

"One of the silly ones, in my opinion, is the automatic (penalty) for flipping the puck inadvertently up in the stands," Quinn said. "We all know, and so do the officials, when it's intentional, so call the intentional ones."

GOING HOME

Quinn always gets pumped whenever the Leafs play in Hamilton, which just happens to be his hometown.

"It's always special," he said." It's home.

"There are tons of Leafs fans there."
