Ken Klee has been missing in action the past few days at training camp but it appears to be nothing serious.

The veteran defenceman suffered a bruised heel earlier this week and general manager John Ferguson said he is day-to-day.

Meanwhile, forward Jeremy Williams, who had been suffering a shoulder injury, was back on the ice yesterday and said he felt fine.

PENALTY BOX BLUES

Don't be surprised if the penalty box is bulging with Leafs during the pre-season opener against Ottawa on Sunday night.

Because players remain unsure of how the new anti-obstruction rules will be called, Leafs captain Mats Sundin is wary of what will be allowed and what won't.

"Offensively I'm looking forward to it because it should allow an easier path to the net,"he said. "But defensively it will be difficult. You're not supposed to touch the puck carrier in any way.

"Ottawa always gives us problems because they're a fast team.Let's see how many penalties I get."

NOLAN MOVE EXPECTED

Ferguson was not exactly shocked when the NHL Players' Association earlier this week filed a grievance on behalf of Owen Nolan. The Leafs held back the $5.6-million US option on his 2004-05 contract. The two sides disagree over when Nolan suffered a knee injury.

"It's not news for us," Ferguson said. "We will move forward and look forward to making our case. I do know there has been a real backlog of grievance cases over the years, but I could not hazard a guess as to when it might be heard."

DONATION FOR KATRINA

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd., says it will donate $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi.

SOME HOCKEY DAD

For the next couple of days, Leafs prospect Phil Oreskovic will get a taste of the NHL dream.

And so will his father, Joe.

"My dad dropped his kid off at Leafs camp," the Brampton Battalion defenceman said.

"Not too many fathers can say that."
