Mogilny on mend

For those wondering why Alex Mogilny required two surgeries on his left hip within a year, Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn suggested the situation was a bit of a fluke.

After Mogilny went under the knife last November, he apparently was told the odds were long that he would need another operation. As bad luck would have it, he did need another procedure, which was performed Monday.

"My understanding was that it was something that could not be helped," Quinn said. "He apparently had calcification in an area where there was only 1% chance it would happen again. And it did."

The surgery was considered a success. Rehabilitation could be three months.
