The San Jose Sharks reached agreement with center Logan Couture on a contract extension, CSN Bay Area reported.

Couture’s agent, John Thornton, told CSN Bay Area that a deal has been reached, although terms of the deal and length of the contract were not available. Couture cannot officially sign a contract extension until July 5.

Couture, 24, had one season remaining on the two-year, $5.75 million deal signed in 2012. He would have become a restricted free agent at the end of 2013-14 if he had not reached agreement on an extension.

Couture led the Sharks in goals this season with 21, and finished second to Joe Thornton in scoring with 37 points.
