Five teams expected to win cup

1. Anaheim Ducks: Adding Chris Pronger to a club that already had Scott Niedermayer should make the Ducks a contender for a few years. Scoring, defence, goaltending -- it's all there for the Ducks to win it all this season.

2. Carolina Hurricanes: Yes, they have a good shot at doing it again. Goalie Cam Ward has to prove he is not a one-hit wonder. Overall, the club did not lose too many integral parts from its club of a year ago.

3. Nashville Predators: The blue line is young, but otherwise many pieces are in place. It starts with goalie Tomas Vokoun and forward Paul Kariya. Getting centre Jason Arnott was a smart move. Scoring is evenly distributed.

4. Ottawa Senators: Yes, they've lost a bit with the departures of Zdeno Chara and Martin Havlat, but few clubs are as deep. Martin Gerber has to forget losing his starter's role in Carolina. Jason Spezza and Dan Heatley should expect tighter checking this season.

5. Calgary Flames: Many thought scoring was a problem. Alex Tanguay should help solve that worry. Many battle-worn vets remain from the Cup run in 2004, and who would argue with the netminding of Miikka Kiprusoff?
