To start off my gig as a guest columnist for the Toronto Sun, I’d like to provide an example of how you can use intimidation and toughness at playoff time without having to drop the gloves.

Back during the 1994 playoffs, we were playing a game in the Western Conference final against the Canucks out in Vancouver. Their resident tough guy was a big forward named Gino Odjick, who just happened to be a good friend of Vancouver star goal-scorer Pavel Bure.

On this particular night, the puck seemed to find its way to wherever Odjick was. And, in typical Dougie Gilmour fashion, he would chase it wherever it went, which often meant heading directly into Odjick territory.
