TORONTO - Cliff Fletcher’s name is on the Stanley Cup, he wears a Hockey Hall of Fame ring and has a treasure trove of hockey memories around his office.

But one picture that holds a place of pride on the former general manager’s desk is Nik Borschevsky tipping Bob Rouse’s shot for the overtime goal in Game 7 of the 1993 Norris Division semifinal against Detroit. That moment, triggering mass celebration in Toronto and a wild playoff ride, still sends a chill up Fletcher’s 77-year-old spine.

Until the Maple Leafs make the cup final, either this year or down the road, don’t expect anyone else associated with that crazy couple of months to think anything since can compare.

“I still look at that photo fondly,” said Fletcher, a senior advisor with today’s playoff-bound Leafs.
