TORONTO - For the first time since Felix Potvin patrolled the crease in 1993, the Leafs will be putting a playoff newcomer in net to start the post-season.

James Reimer is fired up, as well as fellow freshman Ben Scrivens and certainly goaltending coach Rick St. Croix.

“You have two young goalies enthused about playoffs and enthusiasm can make the difference,” St. Croix said Sunday as he watched No. 3 man Drew MacIntyre of the Marlies blank Rochester 2-0. “I would hope they’re both looking forward to the opportunity, not regretting it. If you played the whole year and didn’t play in the playoffs, there would be some emptiness there. Let’s enjoy the coming weeks.”

There isn’t much St. Croix would change in the duo’s kit at this stage, especially after Reimer’s shaky regular season finale against the Canadiens.
