Daniel Briere says he isn't peeved.
Just motivated.
And he can thank yappy Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta for that.
During the Philadelphia Flyers' dramatic 5-4 overtime victory in Game 6 Sunday, Kaleta reportedly took some verbal shots at Briere and teammate Scott Hartnell about their personal lives. Briere and Hartnell are coming off divorces and it has been suggested that Kaleta's trash talking included the subject of those marital breakups.
"I think it was a moment where he definitely crossed a line," Briere said Monday. "But at the same time, it played into our favour. We tried to turn that to our favour, which we did, both me and Scotty.
"There's no anger, and there's nothing that I want to do or have him pay any more consequences. I think it was done yesterday, and that's all it is.
"I'm just going to use that to my advantage to get me fired up even more."
Given that Briere's two-goal performance in Game 6 gave him the team lead in that category, with five, providing him with additional fodder to beat his former team in Game 7 Tuesday doesn't seem like a good idea.
