The Senators still have to turn it up another notch, and Erik Karlsson knows it.

"I think every game you play you're going to have to be better than the previous one," the Ottawa defenceman said Tuesday. "That's what we're going to have to do. I think last game was our best game so far, in the whole playoffs, and (Wednesday) we're going to have an even better game."

With almost 40 minutes of ice time in Sunday's double-overtime victory, Karlsson looked like a man whose mission it was to make everyone forget his nightmarish Game 2. To an extent, he succeeded.

Karlsson was solid in his own end and moved the puck well, but ultimately didn't provide the offensive production to which the Senators have become accustomed. He had five shots on net, but another seven were blocked and two went wide.
