By Bruce Garrioch, QMI AGENCY
Zenon Konopka and the Senators will have to dig deep. The Senators centre was fined $2,500 and the organization received a stiff $10,000 fine for Konopka's conduct prior to Game 2 of the Eastern quarter-final Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. According to the news release issued by the NHL just minutes ago, Konopka "was fined for his verbal abuse directed at a New York Rangers player conducting a live television interview nearby during pre-game warm-ups." Konopka's fine money will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. Konopka was shown on Hockey Night in Canada chirping at Brian Boyle while he was doing an interview.
