The Senators are looking to bring back Wade Redden -- if the price is right.

Senators GM Bryan Murray revealed yesterday that he's spoken with Redden's agent, Don Meehan, about signing the veteran defenceman before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in July.

"All I can say is, earlier on I met with his agent Don Meehan and we talked about going forward with Wade, I talked about maybe what they would be looking for," said Murray.

"They didn't respond to me at this point in time. I would assume if they are interested in being in Ottawa, there will be a request of a contract of some sort. Then, we will say, 'Yes' or 'No'. At this point in time, that hasn't happened."

It's believed the Senators have told Redden that if he wants to return, he's going to have to take a pay cut from the $6.5 million US he made this past season.

Meehan couldn't be reached for comment yesterday.
