Oh baby! Neil's a daddy?

Chris Neil took a day off yesterday.

But Senators coach Bryan Murray wasn't miffed at the winger. Far from it. Neil's wife Caitlin was about to deliver their first child.

Neil will play in Game 3 tonight at Scotiabank Place.

"His wife's having a baby so I offered him a day off," said Murray. "I'm not sure how he will be emotionally, but I'm sure it will be very good after it happens."

RW Patrick Eaves was on the right side of LW Antoine Vermette and C Chris Kelly during practice.

CHANGES COMING

Is Brian McGrattan going to get a chance to play in the Stanley Cup final? Murray said there's a chance the rugged winger could be inserted into the series against the Anaheim Ducks, with the Senators trailing 2-0 going into tonight's game at Scotiabank Place. Some NHL experts believe Murray has to do something to shake up his lineup and getting McGrattan some playing time might be a good idea with the club struggling physically against the Ducks. "Sure, there's a scenario that could happen," said Murray. "Do you want me to tell you if I'm going to? I don't think I would want to do that today."

ON HIS WAY

Former Senators D Lance Pitlick was going to make a trip to the final, but didn't have to buy a ticket because he received an invitation. Pitlick arrived in Ottawa last night from his home near Minneapolis and will be in the rink for Game 3. "I wasn't going to miss this. I was planning on coming up when they made the final but then I got the call from the team inviting me," said Pitlick. "It's great. It's going to be a lot of fun. I know they're in a tough situation, but the atmosphere in there is going to be great and that should help the team."
