Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty might have some California wine to wash down that roast duck if he wins his bet with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger over the Stanley Cup.

The premier is betting the Ottawa Senators defeat the Anaheim Ducks, going so far as to predict the Sens take it in Game 6. He is wagering a month's supply of Tim Hortons coffee, a variety of Ontario wines, including a bottle of ice wine, and a Roots sweater.

Schwarzenegger is wagering a custom-made jacket by California designer Tony Nowak, a selection of California produce and a case of California wine.

STEM-CELL RESEARCH

Schwarzenegger will be greeted personally by McGuinty when his plane touches down in Toronto today. The two are scheduled to sign deals on stem-cell research and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Schwarzeneggger meets privately with McGuinty tomorrow and they will hold a follow-up joint press conference.

NDP Leader Howard Hampton said the Liberals are seeking out "American-style" photo-ops rather than producing substantial results on climate change. PC Leader John Tory said McGuinty has had four years to act on emissions.

Deputy Premier George Smitherman said Ontario is trying to work productively with another large jurisdiction, California, in areas of common interest.
