Taylor gives Emery Game 1 puck

The Tale Of The Puck went full circle last night -- and then some.

Lightning forward Tim Taylor gave Senators goaltender Ray Emery the game puck from the first game of their Eastern Conference quarter-final last night after Ottawa eliminated the Bolts.

Taylor had scooped up the puck at the end of Game 1 when the Senators wanted to get it for Emery as a souvenir of his first playoff win.

Taylor told the Sun the day after that he had thrown the puck in the garbage.

Turns out he was just trying to stir things up to try and throw the rookie Emery and the Senators off their game.

"I said I hoped he understood that it was just part of playoff hockey," Taylor said of his conversation with Emery at the end of last night's game.

Emery then turned around and ...

"I gave it to a kid as I was coming off the ice," said Emery, who turned in another solid effort last night, making 26 saves, including a bunch in the waning seconds as the Lightning enjoyed a 6-on-4 advantage.

Turns out he doesn't really attach much significance to souvenirs like that.
