NEW YORK - You can bet Glen Sather was grinning ear-to-ear while he chewed on his stogie Monday night.

Not only did the general manager of the New York Rangers watch his team get back into its series with the Washington Capitals after a 4-3 victory, but the players he brought over from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a pair of deals during the past year were all over the marquee.

The director of this Broadway Blueshirts’ production had plenty of reasons to smile.

First, there was Rick Nash, making a crisp pass to Derek Stepan for a perfect redirection in front for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Nash’s first point of these playoffs couldn’t have come at a more opportune time.
