Marian Gaborik has scored two of the New York Rangers past three goals.
That doesn’t say much for the supporting cast, does it?
With this best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal tied at 2-2, the Rangers will need others to step up on the offensive end.
Things got so bad in the third period of Washington’s 3-2 victory on Saturday, coach John Tortorella benched Chris Kreider, the hero of Game 1.
“You want to try to shoot it around them or around the blocks,” Gaborik told New York reporters on Sunday when asked about all the shots being blocked by the Caps.
“They got their first layer, even their second layer when they’re blocking shots. We just have to find a way to get it to the net.. Sometimes when they’re expecting it, try to shoot it unexpected, just shoot it at the net and get bodies at the net.”
