NEW YORK - The Rangers aren’t giving the Senators any bulletin board material.

The top-ranked Rangers don’t want to say anything to give the No. 8 seeds something to hang their hats on before Game 1 Thursday at Madison Square Garden.

“You see their style. You see what their strengths are, their weaknesses are. We know they beat us (during the season),” said New York’s Brian Boyle. “We know they have great players. They have a great offensive lineup.

“They can transition the puck well and burn you if you turn it over. We know that. I think everybody knows that.”

Coach John Tortorella said the key for the Rangers is to stay out of the penalty box. Even he is being refreshingly boring in his assessment of the Senators.

“They have a very good power play,” said Tortorella. “We have to stay within ourselves as far as just going about our business, not getting involved in any antics and keeping our discipline.

“Discipline is a huge part of the game in the regular season — it’s twofold in the playoffs.”
