The Colorado Avalanche are never going to say they’re relieved to be playing Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs, so Wild coach Mike Yeo volunteered to say it for them.

In what is part truth and part psychological volley, Yeo told reporters at the morning skate Thursday that he knows Colorado is glad to be playing Minnesota instead of the Chicago Blackhawks Thursday night.

“There’s no question that with a couple of weeks left in the season they probably had their sights set on Chicago,” Yeo said. “And I think they would all admit that if they had an opportunity to play us they would probably choose that over facing Chicago in the first round.
