Facing elimination from the Western Conference final, Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter knows it’s desperation time for the Stanley Cup champs.

How desperate?

Sutter didn’t rule out concussed centre Mike Richards from returning to the lineup for Game 5 here tonight against the Blackhawks.

Richards participated in the game day skate this morning at the United Center and was described as “50-50” to play as the Kings try to force a Game 6 back in Los Angeles.

“It’s possible, it’s 50-50,” Sutter said following the team’s morning skate. “It’s progress. (But) I don’t want to say anything, I said it last time prior to Game 2 that he was playing and then he didn’t … we nearly had to make more than one change. I’ll just stay away from it and follow protocol.”
