LOS ANGELES - Think of all the buzzer beaters Los Angeles has seen over the years.
Think of all the times Jerry West, Wilt the Stilt, Kareem, Magic and Kobe stuck a dagger in the hearts of the opposition as time was about to expire.
Dustin Penner can now take a place among all those greats in La La Land lore.
Penner's second-period buzzer beater was the series clincher in the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues Friday night which sends the defending Stanley Cup champions to the next round of the playoffs.
"That's as close to a fadeaway as it's gonna come," Penner said.
The Kings claimed the best-of-seven opening-round series in six games after dropping the first two in St. Louis.
