Babcock: I want our team to play hard
By BRUCE GARRIOCH, QMI Agency

Wings try to get off the mat in Game 3

DETROIT - Mike Babcock is shuffling the deck.

Trailing 2-0 in the second-round series against the San Jose Sharks, the Detroit Red Wings coach is going to make changes for Game 3 Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena.

After trying Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk together for the first two games, Babcock is going to break them up and is considering putting veteran Kris Draper in the lineup as well.

Datsyuk skated with Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom while Zetterberg was with Todd Bertuzzi and Dan Cleary.

Babcock wasn’t going to tip his hand.

“I haven’t decided on any lineup changes,” said Babcock. “I want our team to play hard. I want more out of our forwards. I haven’t decided who is playing with who and I haven’t decided who is in either.”

The Wings know the task is difficult.

“We need to score more than one goal,” Datsyuk said. “We need to get two or three and the power play has to get better as well. We need to get more traffic and more shots on the net. We’ve got to go to the net.”
