Wings go for a skate
Detroit hopes for early returns

DETROIT -- The Red Wings roster could be bolstered by some crucial additions tomorrow for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Defenceman Nik Lidstrom (lower body), number one centre Pavel Datsyuk (foot) and gritty Kris Draper (groin) were all on the ice this morning at Joe Louis Arena. Datsyuk appeared to be testing his foot, but wasn't moving very well.

That could bode well for the Wings.

"Everyone will be ready to go," said Wings coach Mike Babcock. "Ericsson will be there for sure."

As for Datsyuk, the Wings need him back badly, but won't rush him into the lineup. With the club playing back-to-back games this weekend, it's not an ideal situation for the defending cup champions.

Draper's presence was a surprise. He's not scheduled to play in either of the first two games of the series, but his status may have changed.

The Wings are also still without defenceman Jonathan Ericsson. He had emergency surgery to remove his appendix before Detroit's 2-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday.

The final kicks off with a pair of 8 p.m., games Saturday and Sunday at Joe Louis. It then moves to Pittsburgh for games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Thursday.
