Gordie likes Red Wings

DETROIT -- Gordie Howe is picking the Red Wings.

The Rocket had no comment.

Red Wing legend Howe, holding his dog 'Rocket' - "I named him after Richard," he said of his late Montreal Canadiens rival - says Detroit all the way.

"The cake is made. All they have to do is put the icing on it."

Howe, whose son Mark is a Red Wings scout, was at Joe Louis Arena to watch the team practise prior to tonight's Stanley Cup playoff series opener against the Edmonton Oilers.

"I think they should win if they're healthy. They showed they're the best team in the league throughout the season. If their health is there, they should remain there."

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
  Yes
  No
No ... but the refs seem to be evening it out themselves
