Flames lose d-man
Phaneuf out for Game 6By RANDY SPORTAK, SUN MEDIA
The Flames will be without Dion Phaneuf for their critical Game 6 match against the Chicago Blackhawks. "He is not available tonight," head coach Mike Keenan said after the morning skate. "He's day-to-day." Keenan wouldn't disclose Phaneuf's injury. Phaneuf left midway through the third period of Calgary's fifth-game 5-1 loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday. He took a hard hit to the head from Troy Brouwer after shooting a puck. Minutes earlier, Phaneuf was hit by Brouwer late after chasing down an icing call. Chicago won that game to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Calgary must win tonight to force a seventh and deciding game. Calgary will likely dress Anders Eriksson.
