DETROIT -- Quiz time: When was the last time the Calgary Flames won a game?
It wasn't yesterday. Nor was it last week.
It was in March.
The Flames last enjoyed a victory March 31 in Vancouver.
Since beating the Canucks 3-2 that Saturday night -- and nearly blowing a three-goal lead in the third period -- to run their season-saving winning streak to six games, the flickering Flames have lost six straight.
"You can't focus on the last week of the regular season. We've got to look at this next game," said centre Craig Conroy on heels of their latest defeat, a 3-1 drubbing yesterday in Detroit.
"We're going home and need to have a good start and we've got to stay out of the penalty box.
"You can't dwell on anything that's happened up to this point, because it's 2-0 in the series. We've got to right the ship and right it quick because, if it goes like this any further, we know what's gonna happen."
Even if the Flames can get back in the win column, it may be too little, too late. The Red Wings already have a commanding 2-0 lead in the first-round series and a big head of steam.
The Flames' saving grace right now: A return to the Saddledome.
Calgary has lost its last two outings at home but led the NHL in home-ice wins with 30 this campaign.
"The season, we've forgot about. We're focussing on the playoffs and the things we can do here," said left-winger Alex Tanguay.
"We've been badly outplayed in the first two games, badly outworked, badly out-disciplined. We have to make sure we regroup here and are ready to go at home.
"We've had a great run at home all year and just have to keep applying it in the playoffs. If we play as well as we think we can at home, who knows what can happen?
"We're going home, it's a new series, those two games are over with. We have to forget about these two games here and start a new series at home."
