PHILADELPHIA -- Buffalo Sabres defenceman Teppo Numminen is out indefinitely after leaving Game 3 of his team's Eastern Conference quarter-final series Wednesday because of heart-related problems.

Sabres officials have not ruled out a return in tonight's Game 4 for Numminen, who has suffered from an irregular heartbeat in the past.

Having said that, the Sabres will err on the side of caution in this case.

Five moths ago, Detroit Red Wings defenceman Jiri Fischer collapsed on the bench because of a heart condition.
