ANAHEIM - Teemu Selanne said he plans to give it a few weeks.

A big decision, after all, is looming for the Anaheim Ducks great.

With his 43rd birthday coming in early July, that word -- retirement -- is staring Selanne in the face. But, as has been the case the past few off-seasons for the sure-fire Hall-of-Fame winger, he intends to take some time before making that call.

"This isn't a time I want to think about it too much. It's a big decision again," Selanne said after his team was eliminated by the Detroit Red Wings in Game 7 of their opening-round playoff series.

"I'll take some time off and just clear my head and think about what's the next step. I don't really have to play but this has been so much fun. I just have to decide when it's time."

With more than 1,500 regular season and playoff games under his belt -- he's got more than 700 goals and 1,500 points -- Selanne has carved out a career he could walk away from with immense pride.
