LOS ANGELES - The Kings have no desire to go back to New York.

They want this Stanley Cup final done and Drew Doughty vowed they’ll bring their best to make sure that’s the case.

The Kings know what’s at stake as they prepare to the face the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the final Friday night at the Staples Center and they don’t want to pass up on the opportunity.

“There’s no way that we’re going to play a bad game tonight,” said Doughty. “We’re fully prepared for this and we want this game so bad and more than them. The guys really care so much. We believe in each other and believe in our team.

“It’s going to be a tough game. We’ve just got to do what we came here to do and that’s win a hockey game. Hopefully, win it all.”

The Kings can either carry the Cup around the ice for the second time in three seasons or prepare for a Game 6 Monday at Madison Square Garden clinging to a 3-2 lead.

“We figure we have to close it out because the more games we give them the more life they get,” said Doughty. “Especially at Staples, in our home arena, it’s a very important game. We’ve played these guy for four games now and if you’re not wanting to beat these team so bad right now then something is wrong with you. We’ve developed a battle and war with these guys. We need to want it more. We need to play as if it is a Game 7. We’ve had (success) in Game 7’s so why not treat it as one tonight.”

Doughty said the Kings have to do a better job on Rangers’ goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

“You’ve got to get bodies in front of him,” said Doughty. “He played well last game but I don’t think we did enough to get bodies in front. He let out quite a few rebounds in the last game that we didn’t jump on him.

“We know what we have to do to get pucks by him. It’s just about doing it.”
