State governors wager weird items for Stanley Cup

This is lame.

But it’s not as lame as simply wearing the other team’s sweater.

It’s Stanley Cup time again and that means a pair of leaders are putting it all on the line.

OK, maybe not. But, hey, they’re putting something on the line.

While most sports bets between politicians typically involve beer and cuisine, with the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers set to tangle in L.A. Wednesday night, the governors of both states have placed their bets.

Bizarrely, California governor Jerry Brown will send New York governor Andrew Cuomo rice cakes and a book about California if the Kings lose.

In return, Cuomo has promised to send Brown a puck, Buffalo sauce and oysters if the Blueshirts come up short.
