Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper went there.

A place, a moment in time, Toronto Maple Leaf fans have attempted to forget.

Shortly after the Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins 3-1 in Game 7 of a second-round NHL playoff series Wednesday night, Harper took a shot at the Buds.

“Great to see a Canadian team finally take out the Bruins in a Game 7. #GoHabsGo," Harper tweeted.

The Leafs, you’ll remember, were bounced in a Game 7 against the Bruins during last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs.

Made worse by the fact the Buds were leading the Bruins 4-1 midway through the third-period of that game, Harper dug the knife in further by congratulating Toronto’s biggest rivals.

Looking even further back, the Vancouver Canucks were beaten in seven games during the 2011 Stanley Cup finals.

Not exactly a good way to pick up seats in non-conservative ridings.

In less than 10 minutes Wednesday night, the PM's tweet had already been retweeted or favourite more than 1,000 times.

Harper spent a portion of his childhood in Toronto.

His official Wikipedia page lists him as a Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
