MONTREAL - Claude Julien won’t get caught up in the hype.

The Bruins coach wasn’t about get drawn into a war of words with the Montreal Canadiens coach Michel Therrien after he accused Julien of trying to influence the officials Monday.

“It’s something they’ve tried in the past,” said Therrien on Monday. “We all remember in the (2013) Stanley Cup final when they talked about (Chicago goalie) Corey Crawford and how he was giving up goals glove side.

“It’s a part of their strategy. It’s the same thing with Claude’s comments, how they had to deal with penalties – which I find they’re coming out of pretty well.

“They’re trying to influence the decisions of the officials. These are the Boston Bruins. It’s always been like this and it won’t change. It doesn’t seem to be affecting my players and, as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t affect me.”

Julien wasn’t going to get into it with Therrien.

“Everybody is entitled to their comments,” said Julien Tuesday morning. “People are trying to make more out of this on-ice rivalry and trying to make it into an off-ice rivalry.

“Some of it could be gamesmanship. It doesn’t really matter. Right now, I’m focusing on my team and what we need to do.”

Speaking before a much-anticipated Game 3 Tuesday night at the Bell Centre with the Round 2 series tied 1-1, Julien told reporters he has nothing but respect for Montreal goalie Carey Price.

Much was made of the fact Boston defenceman Dougie Hamilton insinuated the Bruins had found Price’s weakness.

“I had Carey Price with Team Canada. He’s one of the great goaltenders in this league,” said Julien. “All this stuff about weakness. NHL.com has all the stuff about where goals went in. Are there really any secrets or weaknesses?

“We’ve got two of the best goaltenders in the nets in this series. And there’s been goals scored on both sides. This stuff that has been written is off-ice stuff that people are trying to create. We’re going to try and score wherever we can on Carey. He’s a big reason they are here. He’s played tremendously from the start of this series.”
