OTTAWA - Steve Yzerman has to be concerned.

As the general manager of Team Canada prepares to go to Sochi for the Olympics next winter -- hopefully with NHL players -- he has to be wondering just what the goaltending picture will look like. During these playoffs, it has been clouded at best.

The top three candidates coming into the season were simple:

  • Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.
  • Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price.
  • Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward.

Right now, the picture doesn't look good.

Ward suffered a devastating injury and didn't finish the season. Fleury was given the hook and replaced by Tomas Vokoun in Game 5 vs. the New York Islanders Thursday and the Canadiens confirmed Thursday that Price is finished for this series with a lower body ailment.
