WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mike Green scored eight minutes into the first overtime period to propel the Washington Capitals to a 1-0 victory over the New York Rangers Saturday at the Verizon Center.

With Ryan McDonagh in the box for delay-of-game, Green blasted home a slapper from the point to give the Capitals a 2-0 series lead in the best-of-7 opening-round match-up.

Game 3 goes Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
