PHILADELPHIA - Jason Pominville limped towards the team bus with the aid of crutches, a walking boot on his left foot and a pained look on his face.
Believed to have been sliced open by a skate in the first period of Buffalo’s 4-3 overtime win over Philadelphia on Friday, the Sabres forward likely will be lost long-term.
“It doesn’t look good,” coach Lindy Ruff said. “It’s a huge loss for us.”
The Flyers, meanwhile, played without Chris Pronger (hand) and Jeff Carter (knee). There are hopes that Pronger will give it a try in Game 6 in Buffalo on Sunday, especially now that the Flyers, trailing 3-2 in the series, will see their season end with a loss.
