MONTREAL - Tim Thomas had a close shave against the Montreal Canadiens Monday night, but he survived.

Now the Boston Bruins goaltender is going to look for a haircut in Lake Placid.

“This will definitely help the bus ride. It’s going to be a lot more enjoyable, probably much more enjoyable these two days off between games,” said Thomas, who looked bad on the Canadiens’ two goals in the B’s 4-2 win at the Bell Centre, but rallied with some big saves in the closing minutes to get the Bruins back in the series.

“We have to be ready to go back at it Thursday and find a way to end up with the same result we had tonight.”

Thomas got beat through the legs on goals by Montreal’s Andrei Kostitsyn and Tomas Plekanec, the latter coming from a bad angle to make it 3-2 four minutes into the third period, making for a good finish.

What was Thomas thinking after that one found the back of the net?

“Well, if we end up losing the game, I think to myself, “you’ve got to take the blame because you should have had that,’” he said. “But then I decided if we win, I didn’t really have to take any blame, so let’s win.”

Now the Bruins are off to Lake Placid for two days in a much better frame of mind and Thomas is looking forward to the visit.

“Yeah, actually. I’ll take a look around. I’m sure it will be nice and quiet there,” he said. “I’ll try and find a place for a haircut. I need a haircut.”
