Pronger doubtful for Game 2 return

WASHINGTON -- There was no shooting, no dipsy-doodling, no fancy stick-handling.

Chris Pronger skated for almost an hour Friday before the team's practice in suburban New Jersey, but it seems there is little to no chance the Philadelphia Flyers defenceman will return to the lineup for Game 2 Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres at the Wells Fargo Center.

Pronger, who spent most of his workout doing skating drills, still appears to be bothered by his surgically repaired right hand and does not appear to be poised for a comeback until Game 3, if then.

The Flyers continue to list him "day-to-day," coyly leaving the door open for the decision to be left in Pronger's healing hand.

All the while, the Flyers need to find some way to get to Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, who made 35 saves in a 1-0 shutout in the series opener Thursday.

"We knew Ryan Miller would probably steal a game or two and he did a really good job (Thursday) night," Flyers forward Danny Briere told reporters about his former Sabres teammate.
