LIMPING KLEE LIKELY A NO-GO FOR GAME 6

Enter Joe Nieuwendyk, exit Ken Klee.

Less than one full period after Nieuwendyk returned to the Maple Leafs lineup, Klee hobbled to the dressing room and did not return.

As is his customary stance with any injury, Leafs coach Pat Quinn was elusive about the ailment, referring to it only as "lower body."

Quinn added that he had not talked to the doctors as of yet.

In any event, don't be surprised if one of the Leafs' reserve defencemen -- Calle Johansson comes to mind -- is forced into action in Game 6, judging by the fact that Klee was leaning on a trainer as he limped down the corridor to the room just before the first intermission.

Nieuwendyk, meanwhile, played 13 minutes four seconds and scored the Leafs' first goal.

"(The back) was not bad," Nieuwendyk said of the injury which caused him to miss the three previous games.

"It's tough when you have to play catch-up hockey and you're down 3-0 like that right off the bat. But you can't get too high when you win and too low when you lose. We have to regroup at home, then find some way to get it done in this building."

Because of Nieuwendyk's return to the lineup, Robert Reichel was made a healthy scratch.

"That was a hard decision to make," Quinn said of sitting out the 5-foot-10 centre. "I don't like to say it, but it was a size thing."

His lineup notwithstanding, Quinn was far more perturbed about the Flyers' line changes. Philadelphia did get slapped with one too-many-men-on-the-ice minor, but the Leafs coach felt the Flyers should have been called several more times.

"You talk to the officials about it," Quinn said. "It's their call. You can't do much about it.

"It's the old Edmonton change ... (the Flyers) had 10 people on the ice at times. I guess they can get away with it. We scored the other night in their building and they had seven players on the ice. If we hadn't scored they would have got away with it.

"(The Flyers) are doing it successfully and the officials won't enforce it."
