Ticket mania rages

Lordy, lordy, lordy, the Flames are going for Stanley Cup glory and fans can now buy their seats to watch it all happen.

The Calgary Flames announced yesterday that those who want to be part of sports history can now get their hands on Round 4 tickets for Games 3 and 4 at home at the 'Dome.

"We're going to sell them pretty much the same way we did for the last round," said Rollie Cyr, the Flames vice-president of ticket sales.

Action-hungry fans with long-term devotion will have first dibs on a ticket for one of the first two home games when they purchase one season ticket for next year.

That offer is good until noon Friday.

But the real madness will start when tickets go on sale to the public via the Internet once the clock strikes 12 p.m. that same day.

The tickets will be available at www.calgaryflames.com and www.ticketmaster.ca on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets for the series against San Jose sold out in 12 minutes and seats for the finals will be plucked out of cyberspace just as fast, said Cyr.

"We're proud of the fact that we've been able to connect with so many fans the way we have," he said.

The Flames road to the finals has earned the team more than 2,000 new season-ticket holders, said Cyr.

And Calgary fans with a lucky streak can read the Sun and enter a random draw for tickets at city Sport Chek stores.

Readers can cut out ballots appearing daily in the paper and drop them off at any Sports Chek location starting Monday, with entries closing at the end of the business day Thursday.

The first two home games are scheduled for Saturday, May 29, and Monday, May 31, both at 6 p.m.
