Among the first Flames players to address the media yesterday was Andrew Ference.

He was also among the last.

For an hour, the defenceman spoke with the gathering that numbered in the the hundreds, going from one subject to another.

It reached the point where teammate Chris Clark asked him, "Are you trying to break Conny's (Craig Conroy's) record?"

Frank Brown, the NHL's vice-president of media relations, marvelled that Ference had, indeed, set a Stanley Cup final mark -- longest press conference.

"I want his T-shirt for the Hall of Fame," Brown joked.

Told he'd have to give up his togs, Ference immediately declined.

"It's my Beijing, China, shirt," he said of the Harley-Davidson garment.
