Win was just what we needed

It rained on their parade last night but Leaf fans couldn't have been happier.

Thousands of fans spilled out of the Air Canada Centre into a downpour and a soupy fog after a convincing Toronto win.

They kept their message clear: Forget it, Philly.

"The Flyers are cooked," shouted Dan Avery, 22, before starting his own Maple Leafs rain dance.

"Everyone in Philadelphia should just throw up a white flag -- check, make that a blue and white flag."

The heavy rain didn't curb the jubilation of the customary Yonge St. victory celebration and parade. Yes, they do it even after Game 4.

Several joined Avery and began running through traffic, high-fiving other screaming supporters in cars.

Horns blared and fans hung out of sunroofs and windows to shout out their chest-pumping witticisms and wisdom.

"Leafs in six" and "Philly sucks" remained the most popular.

"They really do suck," said Fred Guthrie in defence of the uninspired quip.

"They had a chance tonight. They came out strong right away and got a fluke goal. But after that the Leafs just dominated. And now get ready 'cause here we come (to Philadelphia)."

Leafs Nation seems to be a self-assured group right now, a far cry from the mood following Game 2 of the series. "I think we were kind of duped, especially in that first game," said Christopher Pack, 24.

"We were convinced that the Flyers were bigger and tougher but that hasn't turned out to be the case."
