TAMPA -- Winnipeg Jets fans are already bitter about having their hockey team packaged up and shipped to the desert.
Now, the Tampa Bay Lightning is ripping off the defunct club's 'White Out' theme from those great Smythe Conference playoff duels of the 1980s at the ancient Winnipeg Arena.
Bolts fans attending last night's Game 5 of the Stanley Cup final at the St. Pete Times Forum received a white Lightning T-shirt, sponsored by a local company.
The promotion is intended to help the 22,000 fans on hand create a 'White Wave' as part of the 'Bay of White.'
"Together in white, the wave of fans will electrify the Lightning to wash over the Flames for a Game 5 victory.
"The Sea of Red is no match for the Bay of White," the press release states.
Lightning fans are also being asked to wear white if there is a Game 7, tentatively slated for Monday in Tampa while Game 6 is tomorrow in Calgary.
