Sidney Crosby isn’t going to get a chance to play in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ final regular-season game Saturday.

But it sounds close to a sure thing he’ll be there for the club’s first playoff game, likely Wednesday.

The Penguins captain would have liked to have gotten a game under his belt before the post-season as he returns from a broken jaw.

Officially, no timetable has been set for his return but Friday he participated in his first practice since suffering the injury at the end of last month.

“It’d be nice to get one (game) in at least for timing and stuff like that. It doesn’t look like that is going to be the case. We’ll have to make sure I prepare accordingly and find a way to get ready. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to play,” said Crosby after practice Friday.

Crosby said the decision wasn’t up to him and he would continue to consult with doctors.

“As soon as they say the word, I’ll be ready to go.”
