PITTSBURGH - They were cranking out Jarome Iginla sweaters here Thursday at the Penguins souvenir store, shortly after word came down the most coveted player of this year's trade deadline had made his choice to come to Steeltown.

Regardless of the colour of the sweater -- it seemed like it was inevitably going to be black or gold (sorry, Bruins fans) -- there will no doubt be thousands of Canadian hockey fans rooting for Iginla to fill out what is pretty much the last open line on his resume: Stanley Cup champion.

Iginla is that kind of guy, isn't he?

No matter what team a Canadian fan cheers for, Iginla is one of those players who ranks as one of the favourites among opposition fans. He has always been a class act and given his success on the world stage wearing the Maple Leaf, he is one of those players for whom Canadians feel a collective ownership.
