Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jordan Staal received a maximum allowed fine of $2,500 for his boarding infraction against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, the league announced.

At the 9:56 mark of the second period, Staal drew a boarding penalty against defenseman Braydon Coburn.

The NHL fined him the maximum amount allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The money will go into the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund, the league said.

The Penguins beat the Flyers, 6-4, overcoming their penalties with a pair of shorthanded goals.
