Sidney Crosby has been cleared to return to play.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain will face the New York Islanders Monday night in Pittsburgh after being sidelined since Jan. 5 with a concussion.

Crosby has been practising with the Penguins for more than a month.

Crosby was leading the league in scoring with 66 points in 41 games when he sustained successive hits to the head from Washington Capitals forward David Steckel in the Winter Classic and then Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman in January.
