Pens lose Michalek up to 6 weeks
By QMI Agency

Defenceman Zbynek Michalek will be out for up to six weeks with a broken finger, the Pittsburgh Penguins said Monday.

Michalek, who has one goal and two assists in 10 games, was injured blocking a shot Saturday against New Jersey.

The eight-year veteran is in his second season with the Penguins after signing a five-year contract in July 2010.

Injured forward Evgeni Malkin, who has missed the past five games because of a sore right knee, will travel with the Penguins to Uniondale for a game Tuesday game against the Islanders. However, Malkin's playing status hasn't been determined.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
