Pittsburgh, Pa. - Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby has been cleared to begin light workouts as he continues to recover from a concussion.

According to a team statement, the workouts are part of his functional rehabilitation from the injury that was believed to have been suffered against Washington in the Winter Classic on Jan. 1.

The team indicated that Crosby is feeling better.

He has missed nine games with the concussion and will not take part in the all-star festivities this weekend in Raleigh, N.C.

Crosby has 32 goals and 34 assists in 41 games.
