PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Wednesday that forward Mike Comrie is expected to miss 3-to-4 months after undergoing hip surgery.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Marc Philippon in Vail, Colorado.

Comrie, 30, hasn't played since Nov. 24 due to the injury. The Edmonton native has collected five assists in 16 games this season, his first with the Penguins after signing as a free agent in September.
