CHICAGO - The Phoenix Coyotes are on life support and this time the NHL actually means it. Really.

Can you say the Quebec Nordiques, Round 2?

Or maybe the Seattle Totems?

Within two weeks, the NHL requires a financial answer from the near bankrupt City of Glendale, an answer that could end the years of drama and speculation involving the only team in the league without an owner.

“It’s possible the team won’t play there next year,” said Gary Bettman, in an unusual prediction for the normally optimistic NHL commissioner.
